School of Nursing graduates. ©2012 UC Regents.If you are a new hire, volunteer, external student, or vendor, you must complete this version of the the Privacy and Security Training for New Hires, Volunteers, External Students, and Vendors (current employees must use LMS). This version is the same as found in the Quick Links section of this website. 

Providers, faculty, UC Davis students, and staff that have previously taken the annual mandatory UC Davis Health Privacy and Security Training course must be complete it in the Learning Management System (LMS).

The course content is the same in both cases.

Billing Compliance Training

The Billing Compliance Training course serves as an introduction to the Code of Conduct, HIPAA rules, and other billing compliance expectations at UC Davis Health. This training can be taken online using the links below.

For New Providers:
All new providers who will bill professional charges are required to complete this Billing Compliance Training course within 30 days of hire as required by UC Davis Health Policy 2518, Provider Education and Training for Pro Fee Billing. The health system will not release charges on their behalf unless completion of this course has been recorded. Please note, this training course will take approximately two hours to complete.

Please read each of the following modules. The New Provider Training Course will not be recorded until Module 4 (Attestation Statement) has been completed.

Module 1:

Evaluation and Management Service Documentation and Coding Requirements (PDF)
Required for all providers that render Evaluation and Management services.

Module 3:
UC Davis Health Code of Conduct

For Remedial Training only:

Providers taking the Billing Compliance Training course as part of a remedial training plan, can use the links below to complete their assigned module(s). The Remedial Training Course will not be recorded until Module 3 (Attestation Statement) has been completed.

CMS Required Compliance Training

Medicare Advantage Organizations and Medicare Prescription Drug Plans (Sponsors) may require their first-tier, downstream and related entities (FDRs) to complete compliance trainings in order to comply with CMS training rules. As an FDR of our Sponsors, UC Davis Health fulfills the CMS compliance training requirement by providing the CMS training content to all new and returning employees in the Mandatory Annual Training course. This requirement is not limited to employees who work directly with patients nor to those who work directly with Medicare and Medi-Cal patients.

NOTE: The links below provide a verbatim presentation of the CMS Medicare Program training information. The training is intended for a general audience and is not role-specific.

This course was originally presented as a Web-Based Training (WBT) course with an online Post-Assessment quiz and accompanying certificate. Please disregard the document’s references to its web-based features and the instructions for printing a certificate. No certificate is required.

General Compliance Training

All UC Davis Health workforce members and Davis campus employees that provide services to support UC Davis Health activities are required to complete the mandatory annual UC Davis Health General Compliance Training at the time of hire in accordance with UC Davis Health Policy 1007. This training helps workforce members to understand the general health care compliance rules relevant to our health system and prepares the learner to be compliant with University policies, as well as state and federal laws.

Some of the topics covered in the General Compliance Training include fraud, waste and abuse, the Deficit Reduction Act, the Code of Conduct, conflicts of interests, compliance reporting and much more!
