The UC Davis Department of Emergency Medicine offers an ACGME-approved two-year Medical Toxicology Fellowship. The aim of our program is to provide fellows the educational experience necessary to independently practice Medical Toxicology. To do this, fellows are given progressive and graduated responsibilities as they develop their skills. We have 6 board certified faculty providing comprehensive clinical training in Medical Toxicology with extensive opportunities for patient care, translational research, graduate education and teaching. Our fellows primarily engage with our busy inpatient Medical Toxicology consultation service assisting in the treatment of a wide variety of poisoned and envenomated pediatric and adult patients. Additionally, fellows provide Medical Toxicology consultation for the Sacramento Division of the California Poison Control System located on UC Davis Health campus. The California Poison Control System is an integrated system receiving over 300,000 calls/year.

• Critical care toxicology including accidental adult and childhood drug ingestions, recreational drug abuse, suicide attempts, adverse drug effects

• Hazardous materials toxicology
• California Poison Control System biweekly grand rounds
• Toxicology lab experience
• Hyperbaric medicine (Travis AFB)
• Occupational, environmental and regulatory toxicology
• Administrative and medical direction of poison control systems

Our two-year fellowship in Medical Toxicology is available to physicians who have completed an ACGME approved residency training in emergency medicine and are board certified or board eligible. Our fellows work a few shifts per month as attending physicians in the emergency departments of UC Davis Medical Center, a level 1 pediatric and adult trauma center, as well as VA Sacramento Medical Center. They are expected to supervise and teach medical students and residents.
