Giving to Family and Community Medicine

doctor talking with patient

Family physicians are on the front line of the medical delivery system. Not only do they provide primary health care - the principal source of medical and preventative care for children and adults of all ages in the United States - they are also educators, supporters, coaches, advocates, and resources for their patients and communities. Family physicians provide their expertise and services to increasingly diverse patient populations in progressively more complex systems of care.

The UCD Department of Family and Community Medicine was founded in 1970 to pursue this vitally important work. Apart from providing outstanding, comprehensive, and inclusive healthcare, we have a more than 50-year track record of excellence in education and training of physicians, research, and scholarship. Current areas of strong scholarly focus include care of people treated with opioids; care of vulnerable populations; social influences on health; sexual and reproductive health and justice; and care of people with multiple chronic health conditions.

We welcome contributions from individuals, corporations, and foundations to invest in the future of family medicine and the patients and communities we serve.

Areas to support

Honor your Clinician: Consider honoring a clinician or member of staff who has had an impact in your care journey. Generous support from patients, families, community members and employees bolsters our capacity to grow and sustain programs, and accelerate medical breakthroughs.

Education and Training: Help support future family medicine clinicians. Your donation will provide residents and fellows with enhanced learning experiences that strengthen their knowledge and commitment to family and community medicine.

Research Support: Sustain the efforts of our research faculty and residents engaged in scholarly work as they evaluate the effectiveness of treatment approaches and systems of care. Your generosity enables the department to recruit and retain outstanding teaching and research faculty and address urgent health care needs in our local community.

Leave a Legacy - Estate or Planned Gift: When you include the Department of Family and Community Medicine in your estate plan, your generosity will have a powerful impact and provide a lasting benefit for clinical care, research, and education. We welcome opportunities to discuss tax advantages that philanthropy may provide through careful gift and estate planning.
