Through scholarship support, the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing draws the brightest minds and strongest hearts for enacting change at the bedside and in the boardroom. Over the past decade, public university tuition has risen 112 percent—and the financial burden has shifted from states to families. According to "The Great Cost Shift," states' disinvestment in public institutions over the past two decades has resulted in "an irreversible slide of U.S. higher education being a collectively-funded public good to that of an individually purchased private good."

With gratitude

The Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing gratefully acknowledges generous donors who establish endowed funds for scholarships and student awards, research and to advance the school overall. View a complete list of all endowed funds here.

Endowments

When you establish an endowed scholarship fund, your gift is retained in perpetuity. The fund’s annual earnings provide awards to students, year after year, easing the financial burden of graduate education.

Endowed scholarships are funds established by individuals, families or groups of donors (such as alumni classes and business colleagues) to provide continual aid to School of Nursing students who otherwise would not have access to higher education or who meet established criteria. Endowed scholarships are frequently funded by gifts of cash, but they may also be funded by transfers of stocks, bonds, mutual funds, real estate and other types of property.

These funds also create a highly visible link between the honoree and the university and serve as a lasting tribute to the namesake. Donors build strong ties with the beneficiaries of their endowment, sharing in the achievements made possible by their gifts. Because endowments are permanent, successive generations of a donor’s family often maintain these relationships and reap the rewards from the honorary nature of their endowment.

To learn more about how an endowment gift or pledge today will impact many students’ tomorrows, contact Sallie-Grace Tate, assistant dean for advancement, at (916) 734-2783 or sgtate@ucdavis.edu.

You can give a gift that lasts lifetimes by contributing to group-supported endowment funds.

CURRENT USE STUDENT SUPPORT

Current-use funds are fully expended during a short period of time and have an immediate impact. These funds may also build a legacy if put toward a long-term project such as a building fund.
