Family Caregiving Insitute postdoctoral scholar
The Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing at UC Davis seeks one full-time, visionary postdoctoral scholar to join the founding team of the Family Caregiving Institute, which launched at the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing at UC Davis in April 2017 with a $5 million grant from the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation.
Dedicated to the well-being of those who care for others, the postdoctoral scholar in family caregiving supports the institute’s vision to discover and disseminate knowledge to improve systems of support for caregivers. The successful candidate has scholarship in the area of caregiving that might include (but is not limited to): transdisciplinary research to discover and validate the evidence for effective and innovative approaches, community-based interventions that engage family caregivers and health teams to improve quality and safety outcomes, or interventions that emphasize multicultural approaches and the use of enabling technology to optimize care. Based on the successful candidate’s area of scholarship, he or she will be paired with an institute faculty member as a mentor.
The Family Caregiving Institute at the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing at UC Davis builds upon the foundation laid by the school’s current scholarship in the area of family caregiving, examining the effectiveness of programs and designing interventions to support them. Another goal of the institute is to augment abilities of health care professionals to better partner with and support family caregivers. Researchers will work to develop tools and resources for practicing health professionals to equip them to be more effective in anticipating and meeting the needs of caregivers. The institute is led by Director Terri Harvath, an internationally recognized expert in gerontological nursing and nursing education and executive associate dean for the School of Nursing, and Co-Directors Heather M. Young, founding dean and aging expert, and Ladson Hinton, a geriatric psychiatrist and expert in dementia-related illness and caregiving experience among older adults and their families.
This appointment is designed to provide preparation in the skills necessary to conduct original research in family caregiving, as well as to foster the development of an independent research career. The research environment is highly collaborative and supportive; applicants should be prepared to work collaboratively both within the Family Caregiving Institute and across the campus and the nation family caregiving community. Several founding faculty members of the institute are active participants in the UC Davis Alzheimer’s Disease Center, Latino Aging Research Resource Center and the Clinical and Translational Science Center at UC Davis, where they collaborate with diverse, multidisciplinary faculty committed to serving individuals and families affected by cognitive disorders. The postdoctoral scholar will have partnership opportunities with these and other centers within UC Davis.

Position requires a doctoral degree in nursing science and a background in health and aging. Excellent scientific writing skills and publication record are highly desired.
There is two years of funding for this position. Initial appointment is made for one year with the possibility of reappointment. The salary range is aligned with the National Institutes of Health salary scale and based on experience postdoctoral degree. Desired start date is February 2018. The scholar will also be awarded $5,000 to support pilot research or travel expenses.

Student affairs officer III — admissions
The student affairs officer III — admissions is responsible for managing the admissions processes for all five Nursing Science and Health-Care Leadership graduate degree programs. This includes implementing infrastructure for student admissions, managing financial support and scholarships, and the Nursing Science and Health-Care graduate group recruitment, admissions and fellowship committees and subcommittees. The incumbent must possess excellent customer service skills including the ability to remain positive and professional when dealing with the public (i.e. during direct interaction with applicants, orientations, etc.), must be able to solve problems quickly and to work with changing priorities and demanding workloads, utilizing good judgment as to when to inform and seek consultation from management.

Clinical program operations analyst (analyst IV)
Under the leadership of the director for educational programs, the clinical programs operations analyst is responsible for overseeing operational components necessary to support the clinical students and faculty, deliver the clinical curriculum, track accreditation requirements and evaluate new and existing programs. This role is a member of the school’s education team, which collaborates to achieve the mission of the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing to cultivate academic excellence through immersive, interprofessional and interdisciplinary education and research in partnership with the communities it serves. Clinical education analyst (analyst II)
As a member of the education team, the clinical education analyst is accountable to the faculty clinical coordinators and helps manage the clinical rotations for School of Nursing students across three clinical programs. This position serves as a member of the clinical education team. The incumbent serves as a point of contact for the school between the clinical students, the faculty, the clinical administrators and community partners to ensure all protocols are followed. This includes adherence to identification, health and background check policies, and the initiation of online service requests to allow students access to UC Davis Health electronic health record software. The incumbent provides management, processing, tracking and serving as the office of record for School of Nursing clinical contracts (affiliation agreements).

Curriculum and technology manager (analyst V-S)
Under direction of the School of Nursing director of educational programs, the curriculum and technology manager leads the curriculum and technology team within the larger education team to provide high-level project management for diverse and fast-paced deliverables related to the expansion of the education area of the School of Nursing. Research analyst (analyst II)
The research analyst reports to the business operations manager and focuses primarily on providing post-award support. This position serve a critical role in the development and maintenance of the school’s nursing science research sponsored grants and contacts portfolio. Collaborating closely with faculty, the analyst monitors accounts, recommends resource shifts, and also coordinates with members of the operations team to ensure the awards are effectively executed and administered. The analyst coordinates closely with the Office of Sponsored Programs, Contracts and Grants Accounting, the UC Davis Health finance team and the School of Nursing infrastructure team. The analyst is also responsible for performing complex analysis and developing recommendations regarding funding future grant sponsored projects and programs.

Administrative assistant III
The administrative assistant III provides program support for the family nurse practitioner program. The assistant also provides high-level executive calendar support, travel preparation and post-trip reconciliation, as well as general administrative support in a dynamic, fast-paced setting for faculty and executives. The incumbent is expected to utilize initiative, judgment and discretion to provide day-to-day assistance. The incumbent is responsible for providing logistical support for meetings and events and also participates as an active member of the school’s administrative team. The incumbent works in a team environment and must have the ability to maintain composed demeanor when interacting with peers, staff, employees and colleagues, and is expected to contribute to a diverse workplace through ideas and experience.

Executive support analyst (analyst III)
Under direction of the executive analyst VII as well as the associate vice chancellor and dean, this position provides assistance on matters that are sensitive or complex in nature that require a high level of analytical skill, independence and initiative in execution and implementation. The executive analyst works closely with senior university administrators, various campus committees, campus departments, donors and the public to assist with various executive meeting logistics. This position also provides analytical support for projects and initiatives. The executive support analyst is independently responsible for all aspects of administrative, analytical and project management support for matters related to the associate vice chancellor’s daily responsibilities, including the prioritization of activities according to urgency and need.
