Thank you for your interest in our program. The UC Davis Division of Pain Medicine is an advanced center for the evaluation and treatment of all forms of pain. The Pain Medicine Fellowship has a tradition of providing fellows in training with the broadest experience in pain medicine, including appropriate applications of traditional and novel analgesics and state-of-the-art interventional procedures. We offer world-class education and training through mentorship, research and clinical care.

The UC Davis Pain Fellowship is an innovative and cutting-edge training program. Highlights of our program include:

  • 6 Pain Medicine Fellows; Start date August 1. We participate in NRMP. 1 year intensive training program; ACGME accredited; board certification.
  • Comprehensive education and training in pain medicine through mentorship, research and clinical care. 
  • 8 Interventional Pain Attendings, 2 Pain Psychology Specialists, 2 Pain Pharmacists, 2 Acupuncturists, and 2 Private Practice Adjunct Faculty
  • Approximately 25 weeks of procedures with neuromodulation exposure including DRG, SCS, and PNS. Robust ultrasound curriculum with procedures at 3 clinical sites including prolotherapy, large joint injections, and nerve blocks.
  • Recent approval for (3) advanced minimally-invasive spine (MIS) procedures including indirect spinal decompression, basivertebral nerve ablation, and nucleus pulposus tissue allograft injections.
  • Cancer pain exposure including regular rotations at the UCD Cancer Center and intrathecal pump implantation and management.
  • In-house cadaver skills workshops for UC Davis Pain Medicine attendings and fellows 3-4 times a year.
  • Ongoing active IRB research including neuromodulation patient selection, virtual reality applications, knee osteoarthritis, and low back pain PET imaging.
