Bio:
Dr. Brittany Verkerk is a board certified critical care pharmacist. Her career started after graduating from University of the Pacific’s 3+3 pharmacy program, at Stanford Health Care as a PGY1 pharmacy practice resident. It was here she solidified her interest in critical care and then moved across the country to complete a PGY2 in Critical Care at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital where she rotated at both Columbia University Irving Medical Center and Weill Cornell Medical Center.

Following completion of her PGY2 she accepted a position at NewYork-Presbyterian/Allen Hospital in the intensive care and spine surgery unit. Here, she precepted PGY1 and PGY2 pharmacy residents, as well as, pharmacy students through appointment at St. John’s University as an Affiliate Clinical Assistant Professor. She also took on the role of both the Clinical Pharmacy Critical Care Journal Club Coordinator and the Pharmacy Residency Journal Club Coordinator.

After three years, she made the move back across the country to where she began in her current position as a Staff II Pharmacist in Critical Care at UC Davis Health. She quickly got involved in research, precepting, and became part of the clinical teams. Dr. Verkerk is also involved outside of work in the Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmacology chapter of Society of Critical Care Medicine. Dr. Verkerk loves teaching and caring for her patients and hopes to share that through daily interactions with those around her.
