Giving Opportunities

The Violence Prevention Research Program is unique in its vision and multi-disciplinary research approach. Our research into the causes, consequences and prevention of violence contributes to the scientific evidence base to inform, enhance, or change local, state, and national violence reduction policies and practices. Our research is internationally recognized as among the best of its kind.

Over the next year, we will be expanding the number of researchers affiliated with our program. With that expansion comes a broader research scope; new areas of emphasis and identifying the social factors that determine risk for violence, substance abuse, and mental illness. Our ability to reduce the connections between violence, substance abuse, and mental illness in your neighborhood or community is directly related to the support we receive. Because violence causes life altering events, we need your support. Give now.

UC Davis Health is recognized as a tax-exempt, 501 (c) (3) public charity by the Internal Revenue Service. Your gift to the Violence Prevention Research Program qualifies as a charitable deduction for federal tax purposes as permitted by law.

Memorial and tribute gifts

Violence irreversibly shatters families, disrupts friendships, and changes communities in unimaginable ways. Making a donation to the Violence Prevention Research Program is a thoughtful way to reverse the cycle of violence in memory of a relative, friend, or unfortunate event.

Please include your name and address and the name and address of the person(s) in whose name you are making the memorial or tribute gift.   Also, provide the name and address of the person who should be informed that the gift has been made. In all cases, the honoree or family will be notified that a gift has been made, but the amount of the gift will remain confidential.

We appreciate your support of our work to prevent violence in all of its forms and to minimize the connections between violence, substance abuse, and mental illness. Give now.

If you have questions, please contact Chong Porter, Associate Vice Chancellor, at cuporter@ucdavis.edu.

Major gifts — transformational investments

Individuals, foundations, and corporations can have a significant impact on the reduction of violence. These gifts of cash, securities, real estate, or other tangible personal property provide our research program with enduring or endowment support. We appreciate your support to the Violence Prevention Research Program and our hemispheric approach to violence research and prevention, focusing in areas with the highest burden. Give now.

Friends who have included the Violence Prevention Research Program and UC Davis Health in their estate plans are recognized by membership in the Heritage Circle. Each year the dean of the School of Medicine hosts an annual luncheon to honor members of this premier society. Members are encouraged to explore their interest in medicine by attending tours, lectures, and other special programs.

Corporate and foundation gifts

Corporations and foundations providing gifts and grants to the Violence Prevention Research Program have a huge impact on our ability to carry on our cutting edge research; research that has lasting impact. For example, our research has informed policy and practice changes to reduce the ability of convicted felons to cause more harm by using a firearm and helped to create safer environments for victims of domestic violence.

Our corporate and foundation partners help to substantially advance the mission of the Violence Prevention Research Program. For information specific to your organizational needs, including gifts, grants, sponsorships or partnerships, please contact Chong Porter, Associate Vice Chancellor, at cuporter@ucdavis.edu.
