Holly Kirkland-Kyhn, Ph.D., F.N.P., G.N.P., C.W.C.N., F.A.A.N.P.

Holly Kirkland-Kyhn is an assistant clinical professor at the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing. As a clinician educator, Kirkland-Kyhn precepts and mentors the school’s clinical students. A nurse practitioner for more than 20 years, she also leads wound care at UC Davis Medical Center.

Kirkland-Kyhn also serves as associated director for the new Integrative Nurse-Led Mobile Clinic project. The purpose of the program is to plan, implement and evaluate a nurse-led mobile clinic that provides high quality, evidence-based health care to those experiencing homelessness, refugees and unaccompanied minors living in urban underserved and rural communities. The project is staffed by School of Nursing faculty and offers clinical learning experiences to the school’s clinical students. She is an active member of the Street Medicine program at UC Davis Medical Center, providing education on ‘Treating Wounds from the Dollar Tree’ to those who serve individuals who are experiencing homelessness.

Although trained in the U.S. as a registered nurse, Kirkland-Kyhn spent her early career working as a nurse and midwife in England and Ireland. She has traveled to Africa, Haiti and Belize to work in disaster relief and promoting safe maternal-child care in rural areas.

Kirkland-Kyhn earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing at UCSF in the field of geriatrics and obesity. She also earned a Master of Science in Nursing a Bachelor of Science from California State University, Sacramento. She is affiliated with the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses. Kirkland-Kyhn has more than 25 peer-reviewed publications and currently works with residents in UC Davis Health’s Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation department on their research projects.
