Pediatric Critical Care Medicine Fellowship

Our Team

The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) is staffed 24 hours a day by 14 board-certified Pediatric Critical Care specialists. The physicians, nurse practitioners, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and other specialists in the PICU work as a team to assess, diagnose and treat critically ill children.

  • Jennifer Plant, M.D., M.Ed.

    Dr. Jennifer Plant cares for pediatric patients critically ill from a variety of conditions including congenital heart disease and trauma. She is interested in improving the care her team provides these patients through simulation-based interprofessional education.

  • Sara Aghamohammadi, M.D.

    Chief Wellness Officer

    It is a privilege to care for children and their families during the time of their critical illness. I strive to incorporate the science and art of medicine in my everyday practice such that each child and family receives the best medical care in a supportive and respectful environment. Having grown up in the San Joaquin Valley, I am honored to be a part of UC Davis Children's Hospital's team and contribute to the well-being of our community's children. As a wellness leader, I advocate for the health and wellbeing of our clinicians so that we can provide excellent care to ourselves as well as our patients.

    Dr. Aghamohammadi was appointed Chief Wellness Officer in July 2022 and is passionate about advocating for and supporting clinician wellbeing efforts throughout UC Davis Health. Her academic interest in medical humanities led to the integration of improv and medical education through med improv workshops and curriculum development that she hopes to expand through the health system.

  • Moonjoo Han, M.D.

    Assistant Professor

    Dr. Han is a pediatric intensivist who cares for children critically ill with various conditions such as traumatic brain injury, epilepsy, pediatric acute respiratory distress syndrome, congenital heart disease, shock, and malignancy. She has special clinical interest in improving recognition, management, and clinical outcomes of sepsis in pediatric patients.

  • Michelle Jane Lim, M.D.

    Assistant Clinical Professor

    Dr. Michelle Lim is a pediatric critical care physician offering care for pediatric patients with critically ill conditions. She has a special clinical interests in management of acute respiratory distress syndrome, lung protective strategies with invasive mechanical ventilation, and multi-organ system dysfunction.

    Dr. Mateev believes in practicing gold-standard clinical care, while staying abreast of new and upcoming research, treatments, and practice guidelines. She believes that patient care is a team approach importantly including the family as an integral part of that team in addition to appropriate other subspecialists and PICU staff (nurses, respiratory therapists, trainees).

    Dr. Sethi is an intensive care physician specializing in care of critically ill children as well as children with cardiac disease. She has a special interest in ECMO, bronchoscopy, point of care ultrasound and continuous renal replacement therapies.
